Sword x Staff Duelist Build: Crit, Element, Fantomons

Profile

Stat focus

Secondary main stats: Physical Mastery › Elemental Mastery › Speed › Crit. Sub-stats: Speed, Crit Rate and Crit Damage first, then Physical Mastery (40 points = +1% damage), with flat Attack only average. Accuracy is worth understanding — a blocked hit is halved and a block cancels the crit outright — but it is not a gear priority; get it from Companions (Crit Rate › Accuracy at their L50 breakpoint).

Two templates

• Bruiser — balanced Attack and survivability. The default starter; comfortable solo at every Verdantglade checkpoint.
• Burst — Speed/Crit/Attack, defensive subs dropped. Higher ceiling, dies to misread enemy patterns.

Skill timing is the class: short cooldowns on Heavy Slash and Whirlwind Slash drive most damage, and uptime gaps stack quickly. Heavy Impact (single-target stun) and Counter Blade (passive) are the reroll-grade Warrior-line pulls; Mountain Collapse goes last in the rotation because of its knockback.

Element and relics

Pick Fire or Dark and finish all four resonance slots of that element before touching another. If you can choose a selectable Mythic relic, Duelist takes Critical Rate.

Fantomons and Companions

Attack-type Fantomons: Aegiswing and Nyxarchon top the Mythical pool (60 Summon Crystals each, 120 to evolve). Falko or Zeioletus for AoE clear. Companions: Crit Rate › Accuracy; push everyone to L20, then class-matching ones to L50.

After Duelist

Berserker adds the AoE you lack; Conqueror is the PvP endgame. Reclass routes if you change your mind at Aqualis: Duelist → Sorcerer > Sage > Knight (damage tuning does not transfer to Knight). Continue: Berserker build, Conqueror build, Fantomon tier list.
