Sword x Staff Beginner Guide: First Week Checklist

The five things that matter in week one

Sword x Staff front-loads a lot of systems — Cart, Bed, Goddess Statues, two skill banners, relics, guilds — and most of them are introduced before you can tell which ones compound. Boltray’s own Adventurer’s Handbook posts (May 14, 2026) and the community consensus agree on the same short list.

  1. Redeem every working code first. Menu (the box icon, bottom right) → User Center → Gift Code; iOS players use the official web portal instead. The launch codes alone hand out Dawnium, Stellatie, Destiny Fruit and Auroral Badges. The current list is on the codes page.
  2. Pick Warrior or Mage and move on. Warrior is the smoother solo start; Mage’s branches (Sorcerer, Sage) scale hard later. Both advance at Lv. 44 in Cinder Ridge and you can reclass at Aqualis. Full breakdown in the classes guide.
  3. Explore to 100% before you leave a sector. Every fully explored sector activates a Goddess Statue. Main-story statues raise your Blessing Level, which lifts Cart resource caps and base bed-EXP production; Lost Goddess Statues add resource and EXP bonuses on top. This is the idle economy — skipping statues is the most expensive early mistake.
  4. Upgrade the Cart evenly to Lv. 10, then favour Wood and Stone. That is Boltray’s own pro-tip: even levels first, then the two resources that feed almost every other upgrade. Idle rewards cap at 36 hours, so claim them regularly.
  5. Take the free Standard-banner 10-pull every day. Missing a day is lost pulls forever. Do not buy Stellatie with premium currency in Verdantglade; the class-locked Premium banner unlocks later and is the better target.

Gear, skills and slots

  • Gear starts with four slots; the Off-hand slot unlocks at Class II. Primary stats are fixed, secondary and bonus stats roll randomly.
  • Enhancement applies to the slot, not the item, so early enhancement materials are never wasted when you swap gear. Every 5 enhancement levels across all slots unlocks a Resonance step that adds percentage boosts — upgrade slots evenly.
  • Dismantlement unlocks at character Lv. 12 (Alchemy Pot at Home) and returns Refined and Raw Ore.
  • Skills split into Techniques (active) and Charms (passive) — four of each equipped. Skill slots upgrade with Battle Essence; “Quick Upgrade” spreads it evenly.

Home: Bed, Cart and statues

One free speed-up is available daily; Temporal Crystals grant two hours of Bed and Cart output each. Activate every available Goddess Statue before spending speed-ups so the multiplier applies. Buy exploration items (Withering Potions, keys) from Kingdom Shops to open blocked sectors and reach their statues.

Hoard, do not spend

The single most repeated piece of community advice: almost every Verdantglade system pays out more once Cinder Ridge opens. Bank Dawnium, Luminium, Destiny Fruit (a later event needs 300), Material Realm attempts and Bond Trinkets; buy Auroral Badges and Bond Trinkets from the shop whenever they appear on a refresh.

Common week-one mistakes

  • Rerolling. Servers fill and lock; the catch-up window is about a week. See the reroll guide.
  • Spreading relic upgrades across elements. Pick one element, finish all four resonance slots. See relics & gems.
  • Walking home to heal. Eat food on the overworld and keep moving; the free heal only pays when you are already at Home.
  • Ignoring the weekly arena reset: dump saved tickets on day one of the new week, not mid-week.
